This Privacy Policy explains how Lore ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Lore web application at app.explorewithlore.eu and any related services (the "Service"). Lore is operated by Brian, a sole proprietor based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: When you sign in with Google OAuth, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. We do not receive or store your Google password.

Photos: When you use the Camera feature, your device sends a photo to our servers for AI analysis. Photos are processed in real time to generate historical stories and are not permanently stored on our servers. Photos are transmitted securely and deleted after processing.

Location data: The Areas feature uses your device's GPS location to trigger audio narration in historical zones. Location data is processed in real time to determine which zone you are in. We do not store your location history on our servers. You can disable location access through your device settings at any time.

Usage data: We collect basic usage information such as the number of scans used, zones visited, and features accessed. This helps us understand how the Service is used and improve it.

Payment information: Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive, process, or store your credit card number or other payment credentials. Stripe handles all payment data in accordance with PCI-DSS standards. We receive only a confirmation of payment and a transaction reference.

Device information: We may collect basic technical information such as your browser type, operating system, and screen size to ensure the Service works correctly on your device.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and operate the Service, including generating AI-powered historical stories and audio narration.
• Authenticate your account via Google OAuth.
• Process payments and manage your access to paid features.
• Track your free tier usage (number of scans remaining).
• Improve and develop the Service based on usage patterns.
• Respond to support requests and communicate with you about the Service.

3. Third-Party Services

Lore relies on the following third-party services, each of which processes certain data on our behalf:

Anthropic (Claude API): Photos and text prompts are sent to Anthropic's API to generate historical stories. Data sent to the API is not used by Anthropic to train their models.

ElevenLabs: Text generated by the AI is sent to ElevenLabs for text-to-speech conversion.

Google: We use Google OAuth for authentication and Google Maps for navigation features.

Stripe: Payment processing is handled by Stripe, which collects and processes payment information directly.

Supabase: We use Supabase for database and authentication infrastructure. Your account data is stored on Supabase's servers within the EU.

Lovable: The Service is built and hosted on Lovable's platform.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your account data is stored on servers within the European Union. We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit and secure authentication protocols. While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.

5. Data Retention

Account information is retained for as long as your account is active. If you wish to delete your account and associated data, contact us at support@explorewithlore.eu and we will process your request within 30 days. Photos submitted through the Camera feature are processed in real time and not retained. Payment records are retained as required by Dutch tax and commercial law.

6. Your Rights

Under the GDPR and applicable Dutch law, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
• Object to or restrict certain processing of your data.
• Request portability of your data in a structured, commonly used format.
• Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@explorewithlore.eu. We will respond within 30 days. If you are unsatisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) at autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.

7. Cookies and Tracking

Lore uses essential cookies and local storage to maintain your session, track your authentication state, and remember your free tier usage. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking scripts for marketing purposes. We do not sell your data to advertisers or any third parties.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child under 16, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

9. International Data Transfers

Some of our third-party service providers (Anthropic, ElevenLabs, Stripe) are based in the United States. When your data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, it is protected by appropriate safeguards including Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, or the service provider's participation in recognized data protection frameworks.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated policy on the Service with a revised effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
